Monitoring and Reducing Waste
iron gate events takes great pride in presenting our promotional material on post-consumer recycled paper. We utilize only reusable ink cartridges for printed materials. In the spring of each year, iron gate events also participates in RecycleMania™, a program that promotes waste reduction activities. As a part of this program our waste is separated into various categories including cardboard, paper, glass and plastic then measured, tracked and recycled. Our employees pride themselves on the success of this program and continue their efforts throughout the year. Fryer oil is collected weekly and converted into biofuels.
Using Local Foods
At iron gate events we are committed to culinary excellence while enhancing our environment. This is the reason we use local foods whenever possible. Our produce is grown within 100 miles of the LowCountry region and delivered fresh daily. We also have chosen to only partner with dairy, bread, and seafood distributors who have strong ties to the local community. By using local products iron gate events is able to provide its customers with a more flavorful, higher quality dining experience. Buying local helps reduce our carbon footprint and encourages the health of our ecosystem as well as the remarkable taste that only local foods can provide.
VerTerra™ “dinnerware from fallen leaves”
As a part of our commitment to the environment and its future, our customers have the option to use VerTerra™ plates and cutlery at their event. VerTerra™ is all-natural, made only from fallen leaves. This dinnerware is stylish, sustainable and compostable. iron gate events has a strict no Styrofoam policy and uses environmentally friendly plastic when the VerTerra™ option does not fit the customer’s event.
Green Thread
Long before going green became a trend, iron gate events was at the forefront of the movement. We continuously seek opportunities to reduce waste, minimize our carbon footprint and use products that benefit our environment. We are passionate about the environment and convey that in everything we do.
